Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty can change the size, shape or proportions of your nose.
The motivation for rhinoplasty may be to change the appearance of the nose, improve breathing, repair deformities from an injury, correct a birth defect or improve some breathing difficulties.
The upper portion of the structure of the nose is bone, and the lower portion is cartilage. Rhinoplasty can change bone, cartilage, skin or all three.
Rhinoplasty requires local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on how complex your surgery is and what your surgeon prefers.
This surgery can be done in two ways, open and closed rhinoplasty.
In closed way rhinoplasty small incisions are made inside the nostrils, in lower part of the nose.
Open way surgery is done through an external cut (incision) around the nostrils in addition to the base of the nose.
Anyway, considering the fact that incisions and stitches are performed delicately, stitches scars will gradually dissolve and they will become less noticeable after the surgery.
The average rhinoplasty recovery time:
1 Week: The splint can be removed from your nose
2 Weeks: The majority of the facial swelling has subsided and most of the bruising should have resolved.
3 to 4 weeks: You can safely return to cardiovascular activities such as jogging, swimming and cycling.
6 Weeks: The bones are stable, you can resume resistance workouts (weight lifting), wearing glasses and blowing your nose.
3-6 months: The numbness and abnormal sensations in your nose and nasal skin should be resolved.
1 Year: The healing process is complete and final result and the nose’s new shape is fully refined.
Your doctor will explain how to use a nose tape. The required time for using tape on the nose is different. Depending on the type of skin (thin or thick skin), it can be between 2 weeks to 2 months.
